Where to rent in Albania

Renting is the most common first step for people relocating to Albania, and Tirana is where nearly all long-term supply sits: furnished two- and three-room flats in Blloku, around the Grand Park, and in the newer towers of Kodra e Diellit and Komuna e Parisit. Coastal rentals are a different product, often furnished holiday flats offered for the winter at low rates and withdrawn in summer.

Contracts, deposits and what is included

Contracts are normally twelve months with one or two months' deposit, and many landlords ask for several months' rent in advance from a new foreign tenant. Registering the contract matters if you plan to apply for a residence permit, because the permit application needs a registered address. Utilities are usually paid by the tenant on top of the rent.

Apartments for rent in Albania: frequently asked questions

How much is rent in Albania?
The median asking rent across the 2,039 apartments listed is €600 a month, with most between €450 and €900. Tirana's centre sits at the top of that band; Durrës and the inland cities are cheaper outside the summer season.
Do I need a residence permit to rent?
No. You can rent as a visitor. The reverse is true: a registered rental contract is one of the documents you need if you later apply for a residence permit.
Are rentals furnished?
Most apartments offered to foreigners are furnished, especially in Tirana. Unfurnished flats exist but are typically aimed at local long-term tenants.
Can I rent on the coast for the winter?
Yes, and it is often cheap: owners of holiday flats in Durrës, Golem and Vlorë let them from October to May at a fraction of summer rates. Expect the contract to end before the season.
How much is a 2-bedroom apartment in Albania per month?
The median asking rent of the 695 two-bedroom apartments listed is €500 a month; three-bedroom flats have a median of €700.
